TestDisk is powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software: certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy.

Thanks for the responses here in the forum, the caller from Ohio, and thanks to Dave who also suggested testdisk. I already had a boot disk with gparted (which included testdisk which I was unaware of). I ran testdisk and reboot the gparted disk, but the drive could not be mounted (don’t recall the exact error message). I then boot with the trinity rescue disk to see if there were any utilities on that disk that would be of use. There was a utility that would mount and unmount drives. I ran that but was unfamiliar with the utility so I did not know if it had any affect. The last boot disk I ran was the Ultimate Boot CD for windows. That disk has the Easeus Partition recovery program. Upon running that program the previously unrecognized drive was showing as active. I was able to copy all the files over to my C drive as a precaution, but it appears the partition table was restored and all the data accessable again. Data saved (and backed up).
