I run Win 7. The hard drive gets populated with many copies of ‘desktop.ini’ — probably one for every folder. Sometimes multiple copies on the desktop, and certainly a pain should I want to burn a CD, since there is always a copy that wants to go on any CD I burn.
Does this file, whatever it is, serve any useful purpose? At one point, I went thru and deleted every copy I could find (hundreds!), and the computer didn’t seem to care. But, they all came back again.
Does these things serve any useful purpose, or is it simply a ploy by Microsoft to send more business toward the hard drive manufacturers?
