I see that this forum is dying, which is too bad, but I hope that Steve or someone will respond with a recommendation of the best current antivirus for Mac? I have iAntivirus installed, based on a recommendation from here years ago. Is it still OK, or the best?

iMac, OS 10.6.8 but soon to upgrade to 10.9

    Thanks.

I don’t run anti-virus software on my Mac.

“performance degradation caused by most AV technology outweighs the malware risks on a Mac”

Just be careful about which files you download and run from the internet. Don’t open any you don’t trust and you should be fine. The above links list some programs that are more useful on a Mac than bloated anti-virus, most of them already included in the operating system.

    I’ve been using Sophos lately.

I currently have iAntivirus installed. Would you suggest replacing it with Sophos? Do I merely drag iAntivirus application icon to the trash to uninstall?
