    Added to the long line of acquired products killed by Oracle 🙂

    I’m a Java fan so I’m a little sad to see it go. Plagued by security problems but I thought it was a better technology then Flash. Ideally we shouldn’t need plugins for the web. Unfortunately HTML5 doesn’t solve this problem. For example, it defines a video tag but leaves the details up to the browser, so every browser supports a different set of video formats. At least Flash was a well defined standard. Flash was available for Windows, Mac and Linux, so HTML4 + Flash (or Java) had better cross platform compatibility than HTML5 does now.
