    At first I thought, why should I pay for such mistakes? ¡Viva LibreOffice! But then I realized, people can get LO for free, but it helps the effort to donate. But at least for my money, with sufficient motivation and skill, I can examine such an error, formulate a fix, build it myself, test it out, and contribute back to the LO community.

    With MS, I’m stuck waiting for them to fix it.

    Also, depending on need (such as privacy and security), you might be able to use Docs on G Suite. It begs the question, does G Suite meet HIPAA requirements?

    TeX goes a step further than free and will pay you to use it (if you find a bug).

    I don’t use Word. Still loving my Chromebook! Had it since 2012 so I’m thinking of getting a new one.
