The answer I chose was “message” and the message is, don’t just MAKE backups (you ARE making them, right?), but periodically TEST them too by doing a restore. Backups are pretty useless if the methodology of either making them or using them is faulty, and the only way to find either fault is to practice. HDDs or even SSDa are relatively cheap these days, so have a spare on hand, and test yourself by restoring from your backups, and booting from your spare, assuming/pretending your primary got scrambled by ransomware.
The message is not direct, but I think it’s there.
I choose the same, but for a different reason. I still don’t think I really understand all this, but people are saying this was a cyberattack against Ukraine, most likely by Russia. Other infected users just got caught in the crossfire.
