For Premiere / Final Cut type video editing I like Kdenlive. If you need something like Maya for 3D animation capabilities, there’s Blender. I’m not exactly sure what kind of software you’re looking for. Irfan is freeware but Audacity and the two programs I mentioned are FLOSS. I would consider the equivalent of Audacity for images to be GIMP which is also FLOSS.
