This is an interesting question that I hadn’t really given any thought to. Turns out the 9.8 ft cable is apparently the length that USB 3.0 devices are supposed to operate at at full speed.
So, from that standpoint, it looks like you would be OK. But, some references point out the quality of the cable may have some impact.
And, the other approach is to use a good USB 3.0 hub as an extender. And your hub will do that, right?
If you have extension cables available, why not string a couple together and see how much of a speed penalty you get? It looks like going over the 9.8 length is sort of a grey area with no good information available, but keeping the cable under that probably won’t buy you any improvement.
