Reply To: 22 March 14 – iOS7 just became a LOT less secure
I thought locking down the boot process (and the app install process) was supposed to ensure security? At least that’s what we were told on the PC side of things when Secure boot was introduced. Seems like locked down devices (such as the iPhone) are still pretty vulnerable. Consider that every major locked-down platform from phones to game consoles has been rooted. Seems like the trade offs, making PCs (and other platforms) more complex, breakable, expensive, weren’t worth it. I think most of us knew the real reason for introducing Secure boot was to bring the app store model to PCs. for the revenue stream it generates. Sorry for going a bit off topic.
